Namibia – Kenya 2023

Admittedly, we are absolute Africa fans and were very sad that our previous tour operator Explo-Tours no longer offered this type of tour.

With zebrafari motorbike adventures on an African tour again, we were very excited and were not disappointed in any way.

Before the start of the tour, we received detailed and timely information, tips and assistance from the organiser. This all-round feel-good package was to continue on our 4-week tour. Clemens and Josef proved to be very well prepared. Flexibility and active problem-solving on site are very important to the guys.
Richi, our local chef, motorbike towing service and drone rescuer spoiled us with delicious food and was generally always in a good mood.

The group was really great, always happy to come back.

Speaking of always being happy..............we have already signed up for the next tour.

Four weeks of enduro touring through Namibia while it is winter in Germany: this is the ideal winter escape. Namibia is an enduro paradise with only a few asphalt roads and a large selection of tracks in all levels of difficulty, so that you can ride sometimes easy, sometimes challenging routes, depending on your form on the day. Add to this the grandiose nature and endless expanse.

The support vehicle transports the luggage and provides cold beer in the evening at the camp. That's how it can be endured.

On our 4-week Namibia-Kenya tour, Zebrafari - motorbike adventures once again proved to be the perfect organiser. African cuisine thanks to our cook Osman from Tanzania left nothing to be desired. Simply delicious!

it was the first experience of this kind for me,

i.e. the first trip in Africa and the first trip with enduro tracks and then across Africa from Namibia to Kenya!

Thanks to your super service from the beginning of the booking (with information before the trip, your preparation of the tour, route and overnight stays) to your service on the tour, 24 hours a day, it was a really great experience for me:
It was great to experience the different landscapes of Africa.
Unforgettable how close we got to some of the lions, elephants and hippos on the extra safaris and were able to observe the animals. And the impressions of the people and their life in Africa. The many original overnight stays and camps were also a great experience, sometimes directly on the river with a view of hippos or in the middle of the forest, on the mountain with great views or free camping surrounded by the locals, simply fantastic.

Your provision of breakfast and dinner was really delicious. A big compliment to your chef Othman.

But really the best thing: if something didn't go according to plan, it was made to fit! Can't be done, didn't exist!

I’ve caught the Africa bug again! Following my South Africa–Namibia tour five years ago, this time I’ve opted for the Kenya–South Africa tour, which takes in seven African countries.

Strictly speaking, we don’t need an organisation to go on a motorbike tour outside Europe. But this concept immediately won us over. Transporting our motorbike to and from our destination in a container, so that we could ride the 8,000 km from Mombasa to Cape Town as a one-way trip; no single-file riding, but the freedom to follow our own tracks and routes; camping rather than luxury accommodation. And when we actually did it in 2019, it was such a brilliant experience that, after the pandemic, we went with the successor company ‚ zebrafari‘ direkt noch einmal gebucht haben. Und dabei noch mehr ‚Wiederholungstäter‘ getroffen haben.

‚Zebrafari‘ has further refined the existing concept in many details. And the people behind it are simply brilliant: with Josef as our guide, Othman as the cook and Clemens as the boss, it was even possible in 2024 to continue the trip (as a passenger) despite my broken foot. I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you once again for the support and organisation, but also a big thank you to the whole group, who supported me in word and deed.

What a trip!!!

What an incredible adventure!

In January 2025, I spent 30 days travelling through South Africa and Namibia with Zebrafari. 30 nights sleeping in a tent, 30 meals cooked over an African campfire, 30 drives along sandy tracks with elephants, giraffes, zebras, leopards… It was simply fantastic! We did have to carry out a few minor, spontaneous repairs in 30-degree heat, but with a beer and a Rock-Shandy in the evening by the ‘desert telly’ – aka the campfire – we were able to ‘spice up’ the wild stories a bit.
Clemens is a really good organiser – spontaneous, pragmatic and helpful; his experience is worth its weight in gold and makes travelling a relaxed experience. Our local tour guide, Richi, was also a great help with his Land Cruiser whenever we encountered any unforeseen circumstances. And watching Othman showcase his culinary skills over an open fire was a real treat every evening.
One thing’s for sure: I’ll be back, that’s for certain!

Tips: It helps if you can do a bit of tinkering on your own motorbike, because it’s almost inevitable that something will fall off at some point. Basic navigation skills, combined with a mobile phone, give you more options when choosing a route. And you always end up taking too much with you – always. Enduro gear and rainwear, a toothbrush, a tent, a sleeping bag and a few basic tools – that’s really all you need.

From Mombasa to Cape Town – an unforgettable tour in 2024!!!

35 days and 8,500 km through sub-Saharan Africa and southern Africa – an absolutely brilliant trip. Thanks to Zebrafari’s organisation, the service truck and travelling in a group, you have a ‘safety net’ on a trip like this compared to travelling solo.

The highlights were meeting the locals – soooo many people and children from different cultures and traditions. The experiences of nature on safari and in the Okavango Delta were also memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of the routes were quite challenging – Leopard Hill in Zambia, for instance, and a few sandy passes. I was riding an old ’86 XT600 Tenere, which was the right choice as the bike weighs just 175 kg (I only fell over a few times).

Josef was a brilliant tour guide; he organised everything superbly and has a real feel for the country and its people, as well as for how we should conduct ourselves as guests in Africa. Othman provided us with some fantastic food. And Ela was the heart and soul of the team.

That certainly wasn’t my last tour with Zebrafari in Africa. I’m already looking forward to it.

What a brilliant tour 😀😀😀
8,500 km and 35 days in Africa with Zebrafari were unforgettable. At first, my wife and I were a little sceptical. We’d already travelled all over Europe, South America and Australia on our motorbikes, but never as part of an organised tour. We were really taken with the Zebrafari concept. No riding in a pack, but in small, like-minded groups. It was also possible to ride on your own. Every day there were several routes – some challenging, others less so – leading to the evening’s destination. The tracks were manageable even on a BMW GS 1250 with a passenger. This allowed us to experience Africa up close. There were also plenty of rest days to spend on safaris and boat trips. Every day there was a varied breakfast and dinner. Kudos to Otman’s cooking skills. 👍🤗
We were won over by the Zebrafari concept. There’s a high chance we’ll be back with Zebrafari. Africa and Clemens will be seeing us again. That wasn’t our last tour with Zebrafari. We’re hooked.

Exploring faraway countries on my own motorbike has always been my thing. Explo-Tours was often the tour operator for these trips. But as is often the case – the only constant is change.

Last year I went on a trip with Zebrafari to Namibia and South Africa, and I was impressed by how professionally and generously the tour was organised.
This year I’ve decided on a double tour – Kenya-Uganda and Kenya-Namibia – which speaks for itself.

CAPE TOWN – MOMBASA 2025/2026, a sensational tour offering incredible experiences: 8,600 km in 35 days, perfectly organised and executed by zebrafari. It had it all: stunning landscapes, dusty tracks, challenging off-road sections, green forests with lakes, rivers and lush vegetation, Africa in all its facets and unique features – simply fantastic.

Special thanks go to Clemens for organising this trip to perfection; he was always calm and collected, helpful in every situation and a true expert on Africa, as was Osmann, who treated us to varied and delicious meals every morning and evening.
This adventure was made all the better by the fantastic participants; we had a great time together and everyone got their money’s worth thanks to the chance to cycle a route that suited them each day. It’s a perfect concept, which for me was one of the main reasons for organising this trip.

I’ve been on quite a few organised trips in the past, but this tour of Africa with zebrafari was by far the best experience I’ve had so far. Thank you very much for that, and best wishes to everyone who took part in this adventure – Carlo

Namibia – South Africa 2025
After my many self-organised trips around Europe, my attention turned to Namibia.
As I had no experience of desert regions, I set about looking for a suitable guide. During my research, I came across Zebrafari. Why not join a group for a change?
It was at the trade fairs in Friedrichshafen and Munich that I met Clemens from Zebrafari. What can I say? With his reserved yet helpful manner, he managed to persuade me, and I certainly didn’t regret it.

What followed were four unforgettable weeks in Namibia and South Africa. There was a lot to learn: driving on sand, spotting ‘sand traps’, repairing tyres, carrying the right tools and repair kit, making sure to have enough water and a small snack to hand, turning off at every ‘Cold Beer’ sign (the desert stretches can sometimes take a bit longer), and so on. , and if things do go wrong, Clemens is always on hand to help with his in-depth knowledge as an engineer and his well-equipped truck.

Not to mention the daily briefing on the route, places of interest and meeting points, during which a few words of warning are sometimes offered to counter any careless behaviour.
We’ll also never forget the evenings we spent together round the campfire and the delicious, hearty food prepared by Rene and Susanne, who always put their heart and soul into it and conjured up wonderful, varied meals for us every single day.
All of this is set against a magnificent natural landscape with endless expanses and a variety of wildlife. As you can see, I’m still absolutely thrilled and can’t recommend Zebrafari’s tours highly enough.
Let’s see – maybe Clemens will take me along again.

I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Mainly because you ride through different vegetation zones and countries. Clemens and his small team were friendly and dedicated. The chef, in particular, deserves praise. The mix of wild camping, campsites – some with swimming pools – and the occasional fixed accommodation, as well as the days off from riding, was just right. It meant we could do a wash and look after the motorbike. I didn’t have a GPS – you really should have one with you and know how to use it. My advice: don’t think twice, just book it. You never know what tomorrow will bring, and the opportunity might be gone. I was lucky. After the tour, I ended up having three bypasses fitted at home in a flash. (It wasn’t from all the riding!!!)

Up until now, I’d only been to Namibia, and even then I’d travelled there by car. Now I really had to go by motorbike – something I’d already said 20 years ago. I’d only ever travelled round Europe by motorbike, and now I’d set out on the African adventure. Route: Cape Town – Mombasa
I have to say – it’s brilliant – you absolutely must give it a go.
With the Zebrafari concept, you only carry the bare essentials with you during the day, which makes for brilliant off-road driving – just the way I like it. You just have to make sure you arrive at the designated camp before dark. It was a close call a few times. But that’s down to you if you do too much off-roading.

With our fantastic group of 19 riders, suitable smaller groups formed relatively quickly. Clemens has provided the necessary GPX files with three route options, so everyone can choose their favourite and make it back to camp safely.
Here, you’re treated to Othman’s culinary skills – hats off to him for conjuring up such delicious food from so little. Even I, with my food allergy, was looked after brilliantly. Thank you very much again for that.

I’ll certainly never forget the experiences I had on that absolutely brilliant trip. Whether it was meeting wonderful people, the scenery, the breakdowns and, of course, my brilliant little group: Fritz (Guide 1), Christoph (Guide 2), Marc and Andi (the breakdown king). Five weeks without any arguments, always sticking together and having a cold one in the evenings.

There were also plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding areas – whether it was hiking, canoeing, boat trips, safaris, rafting, etc. – it never got boring. By the end, I wasn’t the only one who felt like checking out of the hotel in Mombasa and fetching my tent so I could head out into the bush!" A very big thank you to the group of participants for that.
